Jimmie Walker´s "UP´s" and the famous Joe Lee´s Restaurant were popular hang-outs in Kemah, Texas during the 1970´s and 1980´s. This photograph is also printed in color.
The restaurants located on the tip of the Kemah Waterfront, overlooking Galveston Bay, changed often with each hurricane that would pass through the upper Texas coast. In 1983, Hurricane Alicia dramatically changed the waterfront. Many restaurants like Joe Lee´s re-built a different building after 1983. This is a classic photo of the early years that made Joe Lee´s a popular spot. The upper decks would be full of people hanging over the side, having a beer and watching the sailboats motor in circles in the Clear Creek Channel waiting for the draw bridge between Seabrook and Kemah to open.
