A photograph of Waterfront Drive in Seabrook, Texas is a historic Texas landmark of fresh seafood markets on the gulf coast.
Seabrook has been the destination to purchase fresh Gulf seafood in local seafood markets for decades. Abundant amounts of Gulf shrimp, crabs, red fish, flounder and oysters are brought in daily depending on the season from Galveston Bay and the Gulf.
This photo was taken in 1982 when a dizzing colliage of signs and small markets lined Waterfront Drive.
In September of 2008, Hurrcane Ike devasted the area. The small markets are being replaced with large seafood stores. The character of this area will never be the same.
